249 items today.  Not as many as I was hoping to purge.  Getting to 1,001 items is a little more difficult than I thought it would be.   Not familiar with the challenge?

Quirky facts about these items

  • The bottle of cologne is Polo.  It belongs to my son.  It’s a good thing he’s too cool to read my blog.  He’ll never know…
  • My kids are teens and they still open the cereal boxes to get the toys out before needing the cereal.
  • We have enough glue sticks to build an additional room onto our house.  I have 9 here, there were several yesterday included with a lot of stuff, and last night I found another stash.  Where did these come from???
  • Candy wrappers.  BUSTED!  If you get ants in your room, live with them.
  • So, the stitches came out of the cat’s leg.  The fact that I pulled them out and I’m counting them should say something about how difficult the remaining items will be.
  • The dog treats are not mine.  It’s easy to end up with other people’s stuff and forget to give it back.  Yazzie, I promise I’ll get your treats to you today.
  • Communion snack pack.  I can’t express in words how these hurt me.  Packaging and conceptually. [sigh]

The bottom line

I realized this process works well in getting rid of the little extra crap you have around the house.  I don’t have anything big to get rid of, but I do have lots of junk and things we’re just not using.  This is a good purge to do regularly to avoid “stuff creep,” although I wouldn’t make it 1,001 items each time.  Or should I?

553 down, 448 to go.
