woman-w-bike-toulouse-painting chat-noir-poster  My kids and I went to see the Posters of Paris: Toulouse Lautrec exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art.  (I admit, it was my second time to see it) At the end of the exhibit, they have an interactive station where you can create your own poster.  My first one was done in 7.5 minutes since the museum was closing.  Chat Noir was a speed poster. cole-toulouseConsidering the condition of the markers, which many did not work at all, we made some good posters.  The posters are made by using dry erase markers and tracing the images you place under three sheets of clear plastic.  After you create your poster, you take out the images and the museum workers make a photocopy of your poster. joe-toulouseThe kids had fun doing this too.  They made extra copies of many of the posters and displayed them on the wall.

One of my favorite pieces in the exhibit was Cycles Gladiator.  Cycles_gladiatorBack in the day, if you added wings to a painting of a nude woman, it was considered appropriate, as then it became a fantasy.   Here’s my rendition of it before I brought it home to embellish.  The embellishments were done with markers, colored pencils and hard pastels.  It was a fun project!  bike-lady-original
